Who would you be without that story?

Who would you be without that story?

For so long, my default story has been “I can’t…”

I can’t lose weight…

I can’t be a teacher and a life coach…

I can’t build a business while my kids are young….

I can’t talk about my coaching business on facebook and have people *know* about it. (Gasp!)

Some of these thoughts have been on loop in my mind for so long that they’ve become beliefs.

But really, they became the stories I used to stay stuck.

One of my favorite questions from author Byron Katie is “who would you be without that thought?”

When I use it to chip away at my can’ts, I see these thoughts actually show me what I do want.

I want(ed) to lose weight.

I want to be a life coach *and* a teacher.

I want to build my business now.

I want to share what I love about coaching with anyone who wants to listen, including those on social media.

So, now I’m using a simple thought switch and practicing the sentence “Actually, I can.”

When I remind myself that “Actually, I can…build a business now,” I generate a more positive emotion – one that supports taking the next step to my goal.

How about you?

Do you have a goal that could use a little “Actually, I can” energy?

A simple thought switch can be the first step.
