If you’re like most of my super smart, accomplished clients (and if you’re reading this, you are…), you’ve read more than your fair share of self-improvement books.
You know the drill…you read about the next great plant-based food plan…whole 30…macronutrient dense…vegan…yadda, yadda, yadda plan and you get excited.
You buy the book.
Maybe you read it.
And then what?
You follow it for a week or two. Or not.
Most of us buy the book from a place of being hopeful that this. will. be. the. thing.
But you know what’s really the thing?
The thing that creates results is action.
And that’s why coaching is different. Coaching is action based.
Yes – we absolutely look at our thoughts and emotions…but we do that in the process of seeking how to support the actions that will get us to a goal.
And it’s why coaching complements learning a new skill so well.
We only need to look at a couple of the greatest athletes of our time – Naomi Osaka and Simone Biles – and we’ll see how they invest in coaching to support getting them to their next level. (Side note: Have you seen the Naomi Osaka doc on Netflix. So good.)
Weight loss is simply a skill. One that needs application and practice.
It’s something I’ve taught my journalism students to do for more than 20 years as a teacher.
They learn by doing.
