What happens when you quit on yourself? 

 

You get good at it.

 

Here’s the hard truth, my friend: to succeed at weight loss, you’ve gotta stop quitting on yourself

 

Most seasoned dieters (myself included), have a history of quitting programs. 

 

Sometimes it’s little quits…we serve ourselves a little more than we need or pour ourselves an extra glass of wine. 

 

Other times it’s getting impatient at not seeing results fast enough.

 

What does that tell us? 

 

No program or meal plan can help us get the results we want until we’ve strengthened our commitment muscle.

 

Like other muscles, commitment loves repetition. 

 

So, we’ve got to get good at practicing.

 

It means we’re willing to practice doing what we say we will when it’s easy and when it’s not.   

 

It means we’re willing to practice learning from our mistakes and not let them derail us. 

 

It means we’re willing to practice moving forward because we’re worth our own time and attention. 

 

It means we’re willing to practice making the choice that supports our goals over the choice that offers immediate gratification....and practice this until it gets a little easier, and a little easier, and then it becomes a habit. 

 

It means that we have our own backs.
