Do you trust yourself?

I bet you recognize some of these popular diets and eating plans.
What do they have in common?
All of them ask that you have a certain amount of trust — in them.
All of them ask that you apply their rules — some even strictly so — and, if you do, they promise you’ll see results.
And if we don’t see results? Many of us would likely begin to doubt ourselves, rather than doubt the diets.
And if you’re anything like me, trying and failing at some of them multiple times left me doubting my own ability, and doubting my own body.
“What’s wrong with me?” I’d ask when a program didn’t work the way I’d hoped.
For me, the shift came when I learned that losing weight was not about trusting a diet or a meal plan or a program that someone else gave me.
I lost weight for the last time when I learned to tune into my own body, and to trust it.
Your body, too, knows exactly how much food she needs.
She knows when she’s tired, when she’s thirsty, when she’s satisfied.
But we’re so busy listening to other people tell us how many points to eat and when to stop eating and how much to move, that we drown out our own body’s wisdom — its quiet, wise voice — with all the distractions of quick-fix solutions.
What if you started listening? What would your body tell you she most needs?
